Just Wondering...

Why is that people follow "I'll say" with silence, but find it necessary to state what "goes without saying"?

You've had me chuckling at these "dark sayings" for days. These are not original to me, nor new to you (I think): Why is it that we drive on a parkway and park on a drive way? And why do we clean our bath towels if we have just cleaned ourselves when we use them?

Grace to you, brother.

"Dark sayings"? Yes they are fun to think about... why do you play in a recital but recite in a play? ... but I do wonder how they came about, and this one occurred to me out of the blue.

I do need to post something more substantive, though. My head is swimming with thoughts which I just haven't had time to sit down and finish.

"Dark sayings." Sorry, its a Hebraism for "riddle" or "saying of the wise."
Check out Psalm 78:2 or Proverbs 1:6 though for the latter you might have to turn to a King James Version.

My advise to you: better sit down and finish your thoughts before your head can't swim any longer and it drowns. It would be terrible to have to continue on in life without a head.

Adios!
