Well, the quote didn't cause me to laugh. Although, inasmuch as Stott's juxtaposition helps me to see the boundless folly of my sin, I would call my pride laughable in a "how can you ever believe yourself good apart from Christ?" way. Overall, though, I find the quote sobering.
